AI Waterboarding Ad Causes Stir

Amnesty International's Waterboarding Ad Is Over The Top:

Are you kidding me? Look, I'm all for the dramatic and getting the attention of the American public isn't easy this days but this is pathetic. I'm almost open to believing that there have been more fake waterboardings staged by 'anti-torture advocates' than actual cases of waterboarding at this point. Amnesty International has been nothing more than a political advocacy group for some time now but I never thought they'd sink this low.

The US government's torture policies should be the focus of your outrage, not the advertisement trying to call attention to those policies.

So, how long do we have to wait for the commercials condemning the tactics of Al-Qaeda and their ilk? Surely it's in the can and its release is imminent. I mean if they are going to go through the trouble of producing a commercial about how bad waterboarding, stress position, sleep deprivation, "belly slap" and forced nudity (seriously?) are (and by extension how terrible the US is for administering them), then surely this and this would warrant at least one lousy little film? Right?

Yeah. I'm not gonna hold my breath.

I did a real quick search on amnesty.org for any condemnation of the tactics used by the terrorists...nada. I guess it's only a human rights violation when the US does it.
