Radio Host Fired Over Racist Song

Philadelphia's 'Kidd Chris' Canned Over This Offensive Song:

PHILADELPHIA - CBS Corp. fired a radio host and a radio station's program director over a racist song that was performed on the air in March.

The song played on WYSP-FM during host Kidd Chris' morning show was "highly offensive and completely inappropriate for broadcast on our airwaves," CBS Radio spokeswoman Karen Mateo said in a statement Friday. "When senior management of the station learned that it had been played, they took immediate steps to prevent it from ever appearing on the station again."

The Philadelphia Daily News reported on its Web site Friday that it had obtained a transcription of the song's lyrics, which derided blacks and included numerous racial slurs.

What a jackass. In this day and age, with all of the restrictions on radio content and the prying eyes of the FCC constantly at watch, why in the name of God would a Program Director approve this? Not only was it approved but they played it several times. Look, I get it, the song isn't a far cry from something that Dave Chappelle would release but that doesn't deem it acceptable for morning radio. If Al Sharpton aired something quite the opposite of this, I would be offended. Thus, if I wasn't offended at this nonsense, I'd be even more of a jackass than this Kidd Chris character. Good luck working in terrestrial radio again.

Prediction: This guy will replace 'Bubba the Love Sponge' soon. He's a close friend of Howard Stern and Bubba's contract expires in about 10 months. He'll fill the void of offensive radio guy nicely.

I was annoyed at all of the fuss people were making about the Imus incident since I didnt detct any malice in how he said what he said He just said something tha he thought all of the kids were saying nowadays (just like he was a "hep-cat" back when he was a spry 40 year old).

But this fool crossed WAY over the line. He played it just to be a dick and get people stirred up. So, yeah, can him.

* were you drinking when you wrote that? LOL
Stupid move on the jock and the PD. However at the same time CBS should have to answer. The amazing thing is that the song continued to play an no other staff members said anything.

CBS made a good decision. This guy should have been fired without question.

you people need to lighten up. This was not malicious in any way. Besides, how many times have you been to a movie theater and a bunch of schwoogies were yelling at the screen? The truth hurts i guess.
