Forecasters Predict 'Well Above Average' Activity For '08:
"Current oceanic and atmospheric trends indicate that we will likely have an active Atlantic basin hurricane season," said William Gray, who heads the university's forecast team.
The forecasters predict at least 15 named storms will form in the Atlantic basin between June 1 and Nov. 30. Eight of the storms are predicted to become hurricanes, and of those eight, four are expected to develop into intense or major hurricanes with sustained winds of 111 mph or greater.

Awesome. I'm thrilled. I gave up snow says for hurricane days and I haven't been able to figure out which is worse.
Hurricanes are nice, It's a great way to get rid of all the yankees that have move down here. We don't need more people down here. Go back to your home town, stay out of ours..
Ha! I don't think it's so 'nice' when my power is out for a week. My laptop battery only lasts so long and generators are way too loud.
Ha! How can anyone take what these guys say seriously? They've have dire predictions for the last two years and couldn't have been more wrong. I guess they figure that one of these years they;ll be right and that will be the only year that anyone remembers the prediction. I'm beginning to classify these guys in with the snake-oil salesmen of years gone by.
I agree with Shawn. Hurricanes suck because of the aftermath alone. I can sweep leaves and replace windows, but I can't get by without my technology. Pitiful as it is to admit, it's the truth!
