Vogue Magazine In Race Row

What Do These Two Magazine Covers Have In Common?:

This story has been brewing for a few days now. Vogue photog Annie Liebovitz snapped the cover shot on the right featuring basketball star LeBron James and model Gisele Bundchen. For days now, it has been compared to a still image from the movie King Kong implying that Liebovitz intended for James to look like an animal holding a dainty white blond but the shot above takes this to a whole new level. The similarities are obvious and there's no doubt it was intentional. There were loads of other photos to choose from for the cover shot but, for some unknown reason, this is the photo that is chosen.

Liebovitz is no stranger to scandal having snapped the infamous John Lennon and Yoko Ono nude that ended up on the cover of Rolling Stone magazine. She was also the photographer for a sitting with Queen Elizabeth that ended with the BBC apologizing for editing video in a manner than made it look like the Queen stormed out. Wow. That was a long sentence. You get the point, she's been in the hot seat more than once. The question is, will she survive this round?

I think the photo goes with the theme of the shoot. Who cares if Liebovitz picked the one picture that might cause some controversy for the cover. She did what she was supposed to do as a talented photographer...she took pictures that got noticed. You posted it, didn't you? Congrats to her.
